We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to cover all aspects of our operation. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We collect small, regular donations from individuals around the world who want to simultaneously help grow Lebanon Rugby and help feed some of Lebanon’s poorest families in this time of crisis.
FoLR is based in the UK, as a company limited by guarantee, governed by Companies House under the law of England and Wales. You can look up Friends of Lebanon Rugby here; on the government’s register for companies.
FoLR was started by Raymond Asfour, a dual British and Lebanese citizen, residing in the UK, who has been involved with Lebanon Rugby as first a national team player and then a board member for almost 20 years. Rony Bachour, a former national team member and now national team manager also supports the running of FoLR. In time, when our registration with the charities commission is complete, we will have a full board of trustees.
FoLR does not make a profit from any of its activities. All donations, minus a small admin fee go directly to Lebanon Rugby and the Lebanese Food Bank. We are a company limited by guarantee, and in the process of registering with the UK Charities Commission; a process which can take some time.
We would like to have done so but the current wait list for charity registration is five months, and our cause is urgent. By establishing a company limited by guarantee we can convert to a charity once we have raised an initial £5000.
We’ve designed FoLR to keep its costs to a minimum. We don’t have an office and we don’t pay salaries, yet we do have some small costs such as website maintenance and accounting.
At the end of each calendar year we will publish our full accounts for the year. Our aim here is to be as transparent as possible. If you have any questions please contact us directly on: firstname.lastname@example.org
Board trustee Raymond Asfour is a board member of the Lebanese Rugby Union Federation, and keeps the board up to date with developments at all times.
The Lebanese Red Cross and Beit Al Baraka are our chosen partners. We have no official link with them beyond this but chose these organisation because of their strong reputation and transparent and inclusive model of delivering for Lebanon’s poorest.
We plan to send out free gifts between 6 and 12 months after you’ve joined us as a sponsor. We’ll be in touch to find out your details, including sizes, well in advance.
